To “Lean In” to discomfort, means to embrace the discomfort that paves the road to transforming the way you think and talk to yourself.  As you may have experienced, this pain interferes with your relationships, family, social and professional lives.  When we learn to “Lean In” to the pain, distress and discomfort, we in turn, also “Lean In” to our joy.

With over 10 years of counselling experience, I take pride in the connection and meaningful relationships I build with my clients and their families.  I value the mutual trust we develop and the personal growth and achievements that are shared.  I embrace and learn from the people I work with who represent a broad scope of cultural, religious and sexual identities.

I have been given the privilege of meeting with persons facing palliative and life limiting illnesses.  I provide counselling to persons and their families who are grieving and bereaved, as well as persons who are requesting support through a difficult life transition or acute stressor such as death, divorce, career change and/or retirement.

I am trained in and provide dialectical behaviour therapy for individuals who are experiencing difficulty regulating or expressing their emotions, have maladaptive behaviours, are experiencing suicidal ideations and/or self-harm.  I offer counselling for persons who feel anxious and depressed.

I worked for several years with women and children living with domestic violence and who are abuse survivors.  We can speak about moving beyond violence, developing future goals, reclaiming confidence and understanding any experiences of shame, fear, uncertainty and all other difficult circumstances and emotions that you may have endured.

In the most recent years, I have focused my energy on caring for the aging adult and adults with dementia.  The focus of my care was to work with patients who were experiencing dementia with responsive behaviours (actions and words that are uncharacteristic to the person, violent and/or aggressive behaviour as well as unusual verbal outbursts and emotional/personality changes) and their families.

For children, adolescents and adults who are seeking support with managing conflict, discontentment, sadness, complex situations and outcomes, self-awareness and self-esteem, discovering self-worth and other emotionally challenging situations, you are welcome to contact me for conversation and understanding.

Please contact me for our initial meeting.  The initial one-hour ‘meet and greet’ is free.  I want us to meet, without obligation, so that you can determine if your first feelings are those of wanting to pursue a counselling partnership.
